Sept. 11
Kansas State Fair – Young at Heart Day
Gate admission is $3 for people 55 and older. A “Seniors Got Talent” show will be held from 2-4 p.m. in Hansen Auditorium. Volunteers are also being sought to help with the talent show. The Kansas State Fair, which runs Sept. 11-20, also offers a $40 Senior Pack for any day that includes two admission tickets, $20 in food tickets, two railroad tickets and two round-trip Skyrides (a $61 total value). Limited qualities are available through Sept. 10 at KansasStateFair.gov or by calling the fair ticket office at (620) 669-3618. The Senior Pack costs $45 if ordered by phone.
Sept. 15
AmeriCorps Seniors National Celebration
This event, part of a nationwide celebration of RSVP volunteers, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the new Park City Senior Center.
Oct. 1 – Nov. 10
Socks for Vets
This year’s sock drive will benefit Passageways, a nonprofit that serves veterans. Donations may be dropped off at 271 N. Third St. N., Suite 500, in Wichita.
