Police: ‘Transnational drug cartel’ targeted in city, county

Wichita police say they have served search warrants at multiple locations across the city and Sedgwick County as part of a year-long investigation into  a “transnational drug cartel involved in the manufacture of illegal narcotics in our community.”

In a news release, police said they investigation was conducted in partnership with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and federal law enforcement personnel but offered no additional details.

According to the release, Wichita has seen a rise in overdose cases this year and police “will continue to use every tool we have available to identify, apprehend, and hold accountable people in our community involved in the manufacture, distribution, and sales of illegal narcotics.”
