By Tammara Fogle | September 25, 2018

You can help promote democracy and make a few bucks in the bargain.

With this year’s elections rapidly approaching, the Sedgwick County Election Office is recruiting poll workers. The Election Office is increasing the number of polling sites around the county and needs more poll workers to sufficiently staff them.

To qualify, you must complete a paid training session in October. Other requirements include:

  • You must be a registered voter in Sedgwick County, Kansas (or be 16 or 17 years old and possess the qualifications of a Sedgwick County voter with the exception of being over 18).
  • You must be willing and able to go to any polling place to which you are assigned. The Election Office tries to assign workers to their regular election day polling site.
  • You must be willing and able to follow Federal and State election laws and regulations.

On election day, poll workers work from 4:45 a.m. to approximately 8:30 pm. The pay is $120.
