A South Carolina public administrator has been chosen as Wichita’s next city manager. The City Council voted 5 to 2 to direct staff to enter into negotiations with the intent to make an offer of employment to Dennis Marstall.
Dennis has been the County Administrator for Lancaster County, South Carolina since 2021. Prior to that he was the Assistant City Manager in Manhattan, Kansas. He also was a Vice-President with United Way and held several positions with the City of Charlotte, North Carolina. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree from Kansas State University and a master’s in public administration degree from the University of Louisville.
Following negotiations, if an employment agreement with the candidate is reached, the City Council is anticipated to hold a vote to finalize the selected candidate’s employment at the City Council meeting on December 2.
