McPHERSON — The McPherson Family YMCA is coming under the umbrella of the Greater Wichita YMCA.
“We’re so appreciative of the welcome we have already received over the past several weeks from Y members and businesses in McPherson who are looking forward to working side-by-side for the greater good of the area,” Todd Tangeman, Chair of the Greater Wichita YMCA Metropolitan Board of Directors, said in a news release. “What’s even more exciting is how this move will support all of South Central Kansas. The McPherson YMCA joins Greater Wichita YMCA branches in Wichita and outlying areas that include Newton, Hutchinson, El Dorado and Andover to give people of all ages the opportunity to connect and elevate health and wellness for the entire region.”
“We’re very excited to build on our joint histories to expand our mission and move forward in new and innovative ways,” said Alan Porter, Chair of the McPherson YMCA Board of Directors. “We expect all of the great work happening every day at the McPherson YMCA to grow as we reach out to even more children, teens and adults.”
A transition period will take place over the coming months. The Greater Wichita YMCA currently operates 11 branches in Wichita, Andover, Newton, El Dorado and Hutchinson. The McPherson YMCA is located at 220 N. Walnut Street in McPherson, Kansas.
The Greater Wichita YMCA is recognized as a model for YMCA systems across the United States.
