Outside of Miami, Tampa is probably Florida’s most Cuba-centric city, especially when it comes to dining. We enjoyed Cuban espresso, Cuban sandwiches and especially Cuban pizza on a recent trip there. The latter is easy to make with a few store-bought ingredients.
Cuban Jamon (Ham) Pizza
1 bag (1 lb. pizza dough)
1 cup pizza sauce
½ teaspoon sugar
½ cup thinly sliced ham
¼ cup thinly sliced onion, optional
1½ to 2 cups shredded Gouda cheese
Directions:
Spread the dough in a greased pie or cake pan; it should be a little thicker than traditional pizza. Spread pizza sauce to the edges of the dough and sprinkle with sugar. Top with ham and onion, then cover with cheese to the edge of the dough.
Bake in a preheated 500-degree oven about 12 minutes or until bottom is done and cheesy edges are crispy.
