Children 1st seeks help
Can you teach, garden or cook? Children 1st, a nonprofit serving low-income students and their families, is seeking a retiree with expertise in one or more of those areas to teach its food curriculum. Children 1st has an education garden and teaching kitchen.

Take me out to the ballgame
Grand Central Station in Newton is inviting supporters to a baseball game at Wichita’s new Riverfront Stadium as part of a fundraiser for the senior center. The game is at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19. Tickets to the event are $75 and include a pregame picnic buffet at the stadium, plus seating in a special area for the Wind Surge game against the Arkansas Naturals. Genealogical library reopens
The Midwest Historical & Genealogical Society at 1203 N. Main has resumed its regular hours of operation: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Volunteers will be on hand to help visitors with their research and lead classes, which include: PowerUp, second Tuesday of each month, 1:30pm; Photo Mysteries, third Tuesday, 1:30pm; and House History, first Saturday, 1:30 p.m. For more information, visit mhgswichita.org or call 316-264-3611.
