WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Senate Republican Conference this week ratified U.S. Senator Jerry Moran, R-Kan., as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs,” Moran said in a news release, “and I look forward to working on behalf of the brave men and women who have served in our nation’s Armed Forces, as well as their families, caregivers and survivors.”

Moran served as Chairman of the committee from 2020-21. Republicans regained control of the Senate in November.

Nearly 250,000 veterans live in Kansas.

“The work we do on the committee is and will continue to be driven by the voices of veterans in Kansas and across the country,” Moran said. “Through casework and conversations at home and in Washington, D.C., veterans have brought their challenges with VA and their hopes for a brighter future to our attention. It is these conversations that will help drive the work of the committee to meet the needs and address the challenges of all veterans.

“I look forward to working with Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), former Congressman Doug Collins and President Donald Trump to provide veterans with timely, convenient and high-quality health care and benefits. We will also hold the VA accountable and work to empower veterans so they can achieve success after service.”

Moran also served on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs while representing western Kansas’ sprawling 1st District.
