City giving away low-flow shower heads in response to drought

By The Active Age | April 17, 2025

City of Wichita water customers can pick up a free low-flow shower head and/or sink aerator while supplies last at the City Hall information desk, one of our Wichita Public Library locations, or a City of Wichita neighborhood resource center.

According to a news release, low-flow shower heads could save families up to 8,000 gallons of water a year and aerators can save up to 700 gallons of water a year.

Residents are limited to one aerator and/or showerhead per household. No proof of residency is needed.

These free aerators and shower heads are being provided as part of the 2025 water conservation rebate program, which aims to reduce water use by offering rebates on water-saving devices. As of April 1, the program has also approved rebates for 148 other water-saving devices. Water customers can see a full list of eligible rebate items and apply for the program here.
