Bob Lutz is a former longtime Wichita Eagle sports columnist and reporter who established the League 42 urban youth baseball organization in Wichita.
Kendric Maple won a state wrestling title at Wichita Heights High School before becoming a three-time All-American at the University of Oklahoma.
Laverne Smith was a track and football standout at Wichita Southeast High School and the University of Kansas before playing in the NFL for the Pittsburg Steelers.
The trio and other inductees will be honored in an Aug. 2 ceremony in Topeka. The Hall of Fame is located in the Wichita Boathouse, 515 S. Wichita St.
