City Hall moves to automated parking

By The Active Age | December 10, 2023

The Wichita City Hall public parking lot was changed this month to unmanned, automated ticket booths.

According to a news release, under the new system, when visitors approach the automated entry gate, they will push a button and receive a ticket with a barcode on it. When they are ready to leave, visitors will scan the barcode on the ticket at either the station outside the entry/exit doors or at the exit booths. Those who wish to pay in cash may do so at the “Pay on Foot” station outside the entrance to City Hall. Visitors that pay at the “Pay on Foot” station will have 15 minutes to get to their car and exit the lot. Parking validation received from City staff will now be a sticker with a QR code to scan to exit the lot.
Parking fees are as follows:

  • 30 minutes and under is free
  • $1 for an hour
  • $2 for 1.5 hours
  • $3 for 2 hours
  • $4 for 2.5 hours
  • $5 for 3 hours
  • $6 for the whole day
