Fight between brothers leaves 60-year-old dead

Wichita Police are investigating a stabbing that left one man dead and another hospitalized after a fight between two brothers at a home in the 2000 block of North Spruce.

According to a news release, officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of North Spruce on a cutting call. They found a 58-year-old man in the front yard with injuries from a disturbance.

When officers went inside, they found 60-year-old Randy Patterson in the living room with multiple stab wounds.

The 58-year-old was taken to an area hospital in serious condition but was conscious and alert. Randy Patterson was also transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:24 p.m.

The 58-year-old was treated and released from the hospital, then taken in for questioning and has since been released.

At this time the Wichita Police Department is not seeking any additional suspects, and this appears to be an isolated incident, there is no ongoing danger to the public.

The details of this case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
