Kansas veterans are invited to share their stories with the Library of Congress during an event on Monday, June 8. It’s happening at the Red Cross of South Central and Southeast Kansas, 707 N. Main in Wichita.
The library’s Veteran History Project now has over 119,000 stories from World War I to the present. The collection is viewed by over three million researchers annually who mine it for books, documentaries and other projects. It can be viewed at www.loc.gov/vets.
Veterans can sign up for a recorded oral interview and/or bring original documents to donate. To sign up, email Shannon Wedge at Shannon.Wedge@redcross.org or call (316) 347-0719. Walk-in interview requests will be accepted, but due to anticipated demand cannot be guaranteed.
