Lynn Salvo’s friends in Wichita’s biking community are looking forward to her return visit here.
Salvo is a long-distance cyclist who’s set several Guinness World Records while promoting peace. Over six years, for instance, she pedaled 14,500 miles to trace a gigantic peace sign across North America, with Wichita serving as the hub where the spokes of the peace sign met.
That earned her world records for oldest woman to bike across the United States, oldest woman to bike the north-south length of the nation and oldest woman to bike across Canada.
Salvo will present and discuss her knew film, “Pearls of Peace,” from 6-7:45 p.m. Monday, June 15, at the Advanced Learning Library. There’s no charge, but pre-registration is strongly suggested. Go to wichitalibrary.org and click on events to do so.
Brenda Mueller is a member of Bike Walk Wichita who’s been on several long rides with Salvo.
“Her love of research just amazes me,” Mueller said. “She will spends days and weeks and months researching rides that she’s going to do. She looks for interesting spots to see everywhere she goes, an she’s particularly interested in peace-related stuff. That’s her mission.”
