Meals on Wheels is seeking volunteers to deliver meals this Tuesday through Friday (Dec. 26 -29). Due to the holiday season, the program has received cancellations from numerous volunteers who typically deliver.
Because volunteers go into the homes of vulnerable seniors, the program can’t take walk-in volunteers who have not completed reference checks and orientation. People who have volunteered in the past (current volunteers or individuals who have delivered with work, church or civic groups) are asked to be on standby each day next week. They can call the program at 316.267.0122 by 9:30 a.m. or stop by 200 S. Walnut and check the open routes bulletin board.
The program delivers between 750 to 800 lunch time meals each weekday to homebound, isolated seniors.
