New kayak stations opening, 21st Street to shut down for party

Wichita Park & Recreation is hosting a ribbon cutting for their new self-service kayak rental stations at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 5 at the Riverside Tennis Center, 551 Nims, east of the dome by the river. Three new self-service rental stations have been installed around the community at:
• OJ Watson Park, 3022 S. McLean Blvd
• Under the Kellogg Bridge, 605 S. Wichita
• Riverside Tennis Center, 551 Nims
On Sunday, Open Streets ICT will close 21st Street between Broadway and Woodland to motorized traffic from noon to 4 p.m.so that the area can host a variety of activities.
Pedestrians and bicyclists will find food, vendors and live music along the route. More than 130 vendors are expected.
It’s the second year Open Streets ICT has been celebrated in the north Wichita neighborhood.
