They’ve been complained about for years, but are the seats at the Orpheum Theatre a keepsake? The theatre’s supporters hope so. They’re holding a sale of the seats and other items ahead of the theater being shut down for a year-long renovation.
The “Seat Week” fundraiser starts today at the theater. According to a news release, visitors can take home one or more of its “famously infamous” seats for a suggested donation of $30 each. There will also be a rummage sale of items being cleaned out storage, including recent show posters. Visitors can also sign the auditorium wall.
The Seat Week schedule is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 27; 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 28; and 4-6 p.m. Thursday, May 29. A cash bar will operate today and Thursday. Coffee will be available Wednesday. The theater is located at 200 N. Broadway.
