The Wichita Journalism Collaborative is releasing a publication aimed at helping people advance their mental health and support others. It’s called “How to Talk About Feeling Bad’ and is in the form of a graphic comic book or ‘zine.
The collaborative, made up of The Active Age and 10 other media and community partners, is hosting a release party for the publication from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4 at the Ulrich Museum of Art, on the campus of Wichita State University.
The publication features the work of 12 local artists, mental health resources and personal stories, and a DIY guide inspired by the evidence-based suicide prevention training from the Suspenders4Hope campaign at WSU.
Members of the public are invited to enjoy appetizers and presentations from the artists while picking up a free copy of the publication. The Active Age will also have a limited number of copies available for its readers.
