In response to recent storms and to complement the ongoing tree debris collection at Brooks Landfill and across the county, Sedgwick County Public Works is hosting a free drop-off event at its West Yard, 4701 S. West St., from Thursday, June 26 – Saturday, June 28, between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. daily. This temporary disposal site is for Sedgwick County residents only, not businesses. To ensure efficient processing and safety, keep in mind:
Only storm-related tree debris, like branches and twigs, will be accepted.
Loads containing other types of waste will be turned away.
Government entities and businesses, including tree services and commercial haulers, are NOT eligible to use this service.
Properly secure storm debris during transport to keep branches and twigs from scattering along the roadway.
Residents must be prepared to unload their own debris on-site.
Due to ongoing road construction, West Street adjacent to the West Yard is open to northbound traffic only. Traffic message boards at MacArthur and West Street and at 47th and Meridian Avenue will direct southbound drivers to the site.
The City of Wichita says Brooks Landfill will accept tree debris from the recent storm at no cost from Saturday, June 21, until Friday, June 27, during regular hours.
Loads must be free from any waste other than storm-related tree debris. The entirety of any load containing a mix of storm-related tree debris and any other type of waste will be charged the standard fee.
